Baked Beans

If you want to replace those store-bought versions, try this combination of herbs and beans. It's perfect over cornbread or you can eat it with potato salad.

Ingredients
  

  • cup navy beans
  • 7 cup water
  • cup tomatoes
  • ½ cup tomato paste
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 3 tbsp honey alternative 
  • 2 tbsp molasses
  • 1 tsp basil
  • 1 tbsp parsley
  • 2 tsp onion powder

Instructions
 

  • Put the beans in a large kettle. Add the water and soak them overnight.
  • Add all the ingredients and cook on medium to low, until tender. You may need to add more water.
  • Transfer to a casserole dish and bake for 1-3 hours at 350°F or until the liquid is thick.
