Baked Beans
If you want to replace those store-bought versions, try this combination of herbs and beans. It's perfect over cornbread or you can eat it with potato salad.
- 2½ cup navy beans
- 7 cup water
- 3½ cup tomatoes
- ½ cup tomato paste
- 2 tsp salt
- 3 tbsp honey alternative
- 2 tbsp molasses
- 1 tsp basil
- 1 tbsp parsley
- 2 tsp onion powder
Put the beans in a large kettle. Add the water and soak them overnight.
Add all the ingredients and cook on medium to low, until tender. You may need to add more water.
Transfer to a casserole dish and bake for 1-3 hours at 350°F or until the liquid is thick.
